VocMat developed a new model for delivering accredited Masters-level vocational education that can be applied across Europe and which addresses the barriers that are faced by tourism managers in employment.
Over a two-year period, a number of modules were delivered using the new model. These modules, or subjects, have been identified through research as being priorities for managers.
An outline of a new curriculum for European tourism managers was also identified for those countries and education systems without an existing qualification. Representatives of the industry, drawn from the partner countries of Estonia, Scotland, England and Iceland, tested the new model, giving participants the opportunity to exchange experience and share “best practice” while learning together as one transnational group.
The blended learning approach offered support and direction with the online models enriched by the group coming together for seminars and video-conferencing.
