The University of Girona is a public institution devoted to excellence in teaching and research and to participating in the progress and development of society through the creation, transmission, diffusion and criticism of knowledge related to the sciences, technology, the humanities, the social sciences and the arts.
The University of Girona, deeply rooted in Catalonia and Catalan culture, is one of the primary economic and cultural motors of the region. At the same time, it pursues a vocation of universality and openness to all traditions and cultures. The University, located in the city of Girona, is a part of the Catalan public university system.
Faculty of Tourism
The Faculty of Tourism has its origins in 1989, but transformed into a Faculty in 2007. The Faculty is located in the Girona's old city center and develops the Undergraduate studies of Tourism and Public relations, and the Official new system Masters, European Master in Tourism Management, and Tourism Planning and Management Master.
Also is necessary to show that the Faculty of Tourism of UdG was the first university in Spain offering Tourism PhD Studies what makes it as the only one at this time were you can have a complete tourism curriculum in Spain.
Moreover the basic and applied research has been a focus of the Faculty, and is one of the reference points in research with the Center for Research and Innovation for the Tourism Industry) CRIIT and ISET (Research Tourism Studies Institute).Furthermore it participates in several European projects, such as VocMat, based on research and also in teaching matters.
VocMat and the University of Girona
The University of Girona sat on the VocMat Management and Research & Development Groups and developed the new delivery mechanisms (model) and materials (modules) to be piloted alongside other members of the Research & Development Group. The University of Girona was responsible for the development of the Entrepreneurship & Innovation module.
