The Tourism Management Institute is the professional organisation for tourism destination managers. With over 350 members working with the tourism industry across the regions within the UK, its principal objectives include the furthering of education and the pursuit of high standards of competence in the management and promotion of tourism destinations.
TMI carries out research and other activities to advance destination management knowledge and practice; its Annual Convention brings together latest thinking and best practice.
Why is TMI involved in VocMat?
The Tourism Management Institute has researched the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) needs of tourism destination managers, and is developing its own programme of CPD activities and guidelines, with competences linked to the TMI Destination Management Handbook. VocMat is complementary to TMI's CPD aspirations and TMI members are taking an active part in developing and piloting the VocMat curriculum. TMI assists the VocMat project manager, in particular co-ordinating the VocMat research, development and delivery group.
